The French model of recuperation and regeneration of GESF presented to United Nations: How France avoided 45 MT Eq CO2 with the CFC, HCFC, HFC reclaim for 22 years?

It was the answer given by the ADC3R (association of distributors, fillers, recoverers and reclaimers of refrigerants), the last 21st of July, to the question asked during the 38th edition of Working Group at non-limited composition of parties at Montreal Protocol organized at United Nations in Vienna. The association has presented during a “side event”, more than 20 years of efforts in favor of climate: a French initiative, innovative, voluntary and responsible for the control of emissions from thermodynamic systems, which implement fluorinated greenhouse gases. The event, organized by ADC3R and animated by Ray Gluckman, has aroused a great interest, gathering more than 50 representants of parties around a complete agenda, between presentations, video animations and expert debate. Climalife exposed the French system of collection, of analyze, of recycle and of regeneration of GESF that allow avoiding 45 MT Eq CO21 emission between 1993 and 2013. The Australian process, near of the French one, has been presented by Greg Picker, CEO of Refrigerant Australia. Other remarked intervening, Silvia Romano, EPEE’s representant, has presented the results of the study of impacts and roadmap of F-Gas II (Gapometer) by insisting on the implementation of effective recovery of GESF. Nick Campbel, environnemental manager at Arkema, representant of EFCTC, has presented the position of fluorinated refrigerants producers. ADC3R has also revealed, for the first time, their logo link to their charter GESCAPTURE, which will allow actors of refrigeration and air conditioning to testify their engagement in favor of climate via the respect of good practices. The control of refrigerants life cycle will allow by the year 2030, to avoid 68 Mt éq. CO2 emission according to a joint study of the Chaire Economie du Climat Paris Dauphine and Armines Centre Paristech. That is close to 2 years of emissions of French car park.
